New Season: Let's Run!

This past sunday, Pastor Hal Linhardt encouraged us to pray "God give us a pure heart, in order to have a clear mind, which leads to a focused purpose." This is a good description of what the Lord has been doing to us in the last month.
Pure Heart
The phrase "getting your house in order" has become quite common for us. We have been asking God to show us where each one of us needs to get our time, money, energy and possessions in order. It has been a convicting yet freeing time. Some in the group are cutting back time at work to spend more time with the Lord, others are working more to get their finances in order, some have gotten rid of video games, movies, burned CD and even cars. It has been amazing to watch the doors He opens when we follow, as well as the frustration when we neglect to ask or simply do our own thing.
Clear Mind
We have been studing revival and transformation in the context of our city of Merriam. If you get the spiritual food emails, you will be reading some of the findings we have come across.
Focused Purpose
We are entering a new season, as we feel the Lord is saying it is time to run. With a clearer understanding of God's heart to transform the church and cities, we are excited to answer the call in our town. The vision is clear although the individual steps are day to day. A friend of ours had a dream that Paul was renovating an old house. A few days later one of the local pastor offered to let us use his building everyday except for Sunday, which along with other events has led us toward a Merriam House of Prayer. We have also been researching the spiritual history of Merriam to aid us in this new season of prayer.

Prayer Requests and Upcoming Events
  • On Sept. 11 we begin taking classes on the Jewish roots of our faith at a local Messianic congregation. Please pray for wisdom and revelation into the Jewish mindset.
  • On Sept. 22-23 Paul and I will be speaking at a church in Hesston, KS. I will be sharing my story Friday night, and Paul will teach on the King and the Kingdom Saturday afternoon. Several people from our fellowship will be coming with us to pray and minister as well. Please pray for God to speak through us and for hearts to be open.
  • At the end of October, several of us will be visiting a transformed city - Almolonga, Guatemala. Please pray all of God's purposes to be fulfilled.
  • Please pray for protection over us as we are asking the Lord to reveal the spiritual strongholds in our city, eventually leading to His Spirit breaking in on our city.

Provision note:

The Lord has provided for us in many ways this month through unexpected donations, a house warming gift of a new dining room table, and an abundance of food for our first Sunday brunch - conveniently held at the dining room table!

Personal note:

Lauren and Harrison both a had a birthday this month - we had a wonderful time celebrating them both as a family. Also, Lauren's mom came in town for a week which was a wonderful blessing in so many ways.
