Shortly after the Passover, the men from our community set out on a trip to explore the land of Kansas. They went to simply gather information on how to transform our state. The trip had many highlights. They were able to make a great connection with a Pastor in Lebanon named Lance. Lebanon is the geographical center of the United States; thus, it is a very strategic spot for us to look at regarding transformation not only for our state but for the United States.
The Merriam House of Prayer has continued to play a powerful role in the transformation process. On Thursdays, we all try to attend the interecession set from 12-1. During one Thursday, Paul felt the Lord was saying that His kingdom was being established. Later that night, Pastor Gillis who is the owner of the building drove by and decided to stop. He was inside when he heard a big explosion noise. He went out of the building and the neighbors were outside to see what the sound was. One lady said she saw a light over the building. The firemen and police came but found nothing wrong in the area. When Pastor Gillis told us what had happened we began to pray and ask the Lord. We felt like the Lord said that there was a clash in the heavenlies, that He was victorious, and that the Merriam House of Prayer would now be a place to release angels and bring about His kingdom through prayer. In addition, this month we asked God to release financial favor, and once again He went over and beyond what we ever had in mind.
The Lord has also opened a door with another local pastor of one of the largest churches in Merriam. Tom met with him this month and he was very excited about the possibility of unity within the churches in Merriam. We look forward to seeing what God has in store.
The body of Christ conitnues to grow as the new community groups (cell groups) have begun to take root. It is such a privledge to watch the excitement of the leaders as they have the chance to pour into other people's lives and help them grow in their walk with the Lord. We will have our first once a month corporate meeting this first week of May, and we are excited to meet new people in our community. On Sundays, we have still continued to meet as the original 12 of us pursue transformation of Merriam as well as sharing life together.
The spring semester of our Jewish classes ended this month. However, we are still going to the Friday or Saturday Sabbath services. Last week, we felt especially honored as Rabbi Feldman asked Paul if he would fill in his puplit for him on a Friday night. Paul did a great job sharing who we are and how we feel we fit into their community.
May is going to be a busy month for us, so please keep us in your prayers for strength, wisdom, unity, power, and love to be overflowing. Some key events that are happening this month:
May 3 - National Day of Prayer - we will be meeting at MHOP with other pastors in Merriam
May 4-5 - Haskel College prayer vigil for transformation in Kansas
May 19 - Merriam parade - we will be doing evangelism
May 23 - Pentecost - we will be having a large gathering for people to pray
May 27 - Global Day of Prayer - we will be doing spiritual warfare in our city
On a personal note: Lauren could have here baby at any time now since she is past 35 weeks. This month we have been very blessed to have a good family friend of ours, Shelly, offer to paint scriptures and animals in Noah's room for us. This was our heart's desire to do, but we didn't know how we were going to do it. Once again God provided. You can click on the pictures to see them larger and the art work. She did a great job. Lauren also had a baby shower this month, and we again were blessed with the love an support from others. We look forward to keeping you posted on Noah. Thanks for your prayers for Lauren; she is doing well and her blood sugars have been normal ... she only has to check her blood twice a day now.
